Shops on Queen housing units are prefabricated economical modules that utilize inexpensive materials and sustainable systems. Aimed to provide entrepreneurial opportunity and independence for young artisans and designers, the units provide residents exposure through store front vistas in a prime shopping and design district otherwise unaffordable to young professionals. Easily transformed between living, working and entertaining functionalities, the unit can serve many purposes while simultaneously accommodating two individuals performing different tasks. The units can be free-standing, stacked or placed in rows to create a community of live/work spaces. Once clustered together, the site can contain community gardens and shared courtyards for public and private interaction.
